Gallery Description
Vintage advertising had a style of its own. The advertising of the early 20th century made a mark since it had just started flourishing. From the criers of the olden days who would announce the arrival of ships and cargo, the advertising moved to the graphic and painting stage during this time period.

The advertisements of that time were characterized by bright colors and a lot of visual effect. Most of the advertisements were drawn by the hand giving it a crude and at the same time, a very nostalgic feel. The name of the products, or even the picture was highlighted in the ads. Children were a common theme in vintage advertising, being featured in the ads of bread, soaps, toys, sewing machine spools, candies and just about everything. But, the most distinctive feature of this time period was those elegant and vivid sketches of people, animals, products that featured in the advertisements.

But after a while, the number of products available in the market shot up. People were not happy seeing just the graphics and images, they needed information. The 1920s saw the emergence of a new style. Ad copy was the most important aspect of any advertisement. The ads were elaborate giving technical information, product features and comparisons with other products. The world of advertising has changed over the years and this changed was based almost entirely on the changes in the perceptions of the end customers.

Visit our Worldimages gallery for a beautiful collection of vintage advertisement posters. You would sure love the nostalgia and warmth of these ads.
